Kitchen Remodeling Goals:
- Modernize and better utilize the kitchen space.
- Add personal touches with marble mosaic backsplash tile.
- Brighten up the room with a better floor plan.
Scope of Work for This kitchen Facelift
- Removed the island bar top
- Changed elevation to a uniform height with the rest of the countertop work surface.
- Opened up dual-appliance garage
- Added two more under-cabinet lights (instead of just one) to further open up the space.
- Installed a new, brighter marble and brass & marble fishscale mosaic tile backsplash.
- Replaced outdated countertops
- Installed a new, more modern quartz surface.
- Added a new scallop mosaic tile backsplash.
- Drywall and carpentry work
- Complete removal and replacement of the existing drywall due to existing tile adhesion process.
- Performed additional rough carpentry for structural support for the new drywall and mechanical attachment locations.
- Kitchen Island preparation
- Re-braced the upper portion of the former bar top wall.
- Rewired the island’s electrical circuit and disposal switch.
- Relocated all electrical outlets to the back side of the island.
- Disconnected sink during demolition.
- Removed and prepped existing caulk.
- Installed a new surface-mounted garbage disposal switch and function mechanism.
- Installed new, better-functioning 1/4 turn angle stop water supply valves under the sink.
- Installation work
- Installed new drywall and prepped it.
- Installed new quartz countertops.
- Installed new modern electrical outlets and switches (correct circuits discerned and labeled).
- Installed new marble mosaic backsplash.
- Finishing touches
- Grouted the marble mosaic wall tile backsplash.
- Applied a triple-pass with stone and grout penetrating sealer.
- Applied color-matched silicone grout caulking to the base and corner perimeters to aid in moisture retention and crack prevention.
